His 2019 album Amanzi Nemifula – Umkhuleko is a playback rearrangement from some of the previous music he released. For this album, he chose the theme of rivers. The music fluidly embodies the African indigenous metaphysics of water’s integral role in lived experiences and influences in African daily life. Playing upstream back to the rivers of memories that are the centre of growing up in many communities that Mashiloane comes from, in one way or another, the inspiration spills into sound. The album includes a medley by the Mash Trio, this medley is of acoustic nature and basic in application, with no use of additional sound amplification. A second medley, Izayoni the Village, is more collaborative and evokes emotions of the spiritual realm and included the African spiritual tones within the music.  In this album, Mashiloane endeavours through the indigenous African themed soundscapes combined with the more traditional jazz.

After the release of Umkhuleko, Mashiiloane was nominated for the International Urban Music Awards as Best African Jazz Artist, was nominated for South African Music Awards for Best Jazz, Best Album and Best Male and won a Mzantsi Jazz Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album.
